Volunteers at Island

Volunteers share a special commitment

Want to make a meaningful contribution to your community?
Need an outlet for your energy, talents or cheerful spirit?
Interested in making a difference in peoples' lives?

Well, then Island Hospital Volunteer service may be just what you're looking for. Our Volunteers are vital to our delivery of compassionate, personal care to our community. (In fact, Island Hospital was started by Volunteers from within our community.)

Why Volunteer?
Island Hospital Volunteers provide a valuable service to our organization. We can't imagine getting along without them.

Volunteers may perform work that entails direct patient contact freeing up the professionals' time — allowing more time for patient care. Or they can help "behind the scenes" either way, they help the hospital and that means helping the patient.

Volunteers undergo hospital employee orientation followed by on-the-job training. Our volunteers range in age from teen to senior and we strive to match the abilities, interests and desires of each individual with the duties of the position.

What do Volunteers do?
