Planning and discussion with community members continued over the next two years and in 2002, Island Hospital's 40^th year, the Board of Commissioners and Administration approved a Master Facilities Plan. This plan sought to ensure the ability to provide quality care for the next 40 years by approving a concept that would benefit patients and their families, as well as professional staff.
