Amanda FloecknerNews

Island Hospital’s January 2017 Employee of the Month is Kim “Kimba” Brotemarkle RN in the Emergency Department.

Kimba is a primary preceptor and has taught many of the newer staff. She ensures that they feel part of the Emergency Department team from the very start and is instrumental in their success as nurses. Kimba has been described by her managers as energetic, motivated, a team player, knowledgeable and enthusiastic learner. One manager noted that, “she is like a sponge soaking up all the information and education she can.” Kimba is a positive force in the unit no matter how busy it is.

From the patients’ point of view, Kimba is the organized, attentive and compassionate nurse that is ready and able to handle whatever comes in the door. She has the ability to adjust to whatever is happening with a calm, confident and assured attitude. She makes patients and their families feel they have been listened to and really cared about.

Since her arrival in 2009, Kimba has characterized Island Hospital’s Promise to consistently provide the best customer service to our patients, families, guests and colleagues. Congratulations and thanks for being an inspiration, Kimba!
