Letter to AFM/FMA Medicare Patients

Amanda FloecknerNews

Dear Medicare Patient,

We are once again approaching the Medicare Open Enrollment Period. This is the time of year when Medicare patients are encouraged to consider their Medicare insurance coverage for the coming year. The purpose of this letter is to share some important information as you consider your Medicare options for 2018. Medicare patients have from October 15 until December 7 to make any changes for 2018. Please keep in mind that if you decide to change your Medicare Prescription Drug plan or Medicare Advantage plan for 2018, you must complete the paperwork no later than December 7, 2017.

Medicare patients of Fidalgo Medical Associates and Anacortes Family Medicine have two choices for 2018:

·  Traditional Medicare including Medicare supplements
·  Kaiser Permanente [HMO] Medicare Advantage plan

We understand how complex and confusing Medicare can be. There are many different types of Medicare insurance available, and health care providers do not accept all forms of Medicare insurance. For these reasons, we recommend the services of our Medicare Insurance Helpline.

Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors
Island Hospital

The Medicare Insurance Helpline is a free service to the patients of Fidalgo Medical Associates, Anacortes Family Medicine, and Island Hospital. When calling the Medicare Insurance Helpline, patients can expect to receive personalized service, unbiased guidance and information, easy to understand answers to Medicare related questions, and no pressure or obligation to purchase insurance.

We also want to stress that Medicare patients are free to contact Medicare plans directly, work with any licensed Medicare agent, or obtain information by going directly to Medicare 24 hours a day at 1-800-MEDICARE or www.medicare.gov.

We hope you find this information useful and informative as you consider your Medicare insurance options for 2018. We greatly value being your health care provider, and we look forward to serving your health care needs into the future!
