Notice to Patients with Kaiser Permanente Individual Medicare Advantage Plan

Island Hospital is notifying patients with the Kaiser Permanente (KP) Individual Medicare Advantage health plan due to a reduction in KP’s network. Patients may have already received notice that KP will no longer contract with certain providers in Anacortes or Skagit County under their Individual Medicare Advantage plan effective January 1, 2020.
This reduction in network providers by KP means that Island Hospital primary care providers will no longer be considered “in network” with the KP Individual Medicare Advantage plan. We would like patients to know that they can remain with their current Island Hospital provider by switching their insurance coverage during upcoming Medicare open enrollment, October 15 through December 7.
Island Hospital primary care providers are contracted with Premera Medicare Advantage, United Healthcare Medicare Advantage plans, Humana PPO plan and Community HealthPlan of WA Medicare Advantage plans. In addition, traditional Medicare plus supplement plans continue to be an option.
